Deepening Contemplative Leadership
Further Support for an Alternative Way in the World

This resource is for those who are ready to honor the Spirit's call to deepen and expand contemplative leadership in all of life.
The intent of this offering is to
- encourage more trusting, risk-taking, Spirit-led leadership
- go "deep and wide" in the world, for the transformation of the world
- support the commitment to radical transformation that has been growing within.
Components
Opening Retreat: March 13, 2010, 10am-4pm
2.5-hour Group Sessions: March 23, April 27, May 11, May 25, 10:30am-1:00pm
(bag lunch at 1pm optional)
Closing Retreat: June 5, 2010, 10am-4pm
Practicum: Participants will select an area of focus in a work, family or community
setting, in order to practice this way of leading from within, attentive to the Spirit. Some examples are: caregiving for elderly parents, participation in lobbying committees, facilitation of meetings at work, and parenting situations.
Support: Prayer partners; small groups; two sessions (on phone or in-person) with Shalem staff member

Do you find yourself being called to deepen and expand your contemplative leadership in your life and work?
Do you want to bring a contemplative attitude and presence to your work in ways that impact meetings, decisions, and structures?
Would a small group of others who share this particular call be valuable to you for prayer, encouragement and sharing of struggles and celebrations?
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of experience with Shalem or completion of a Shalem extension program
- Commitment to contemplative living embodied in Spirit-led leadership in a particular place, whether a secular or faith setting
- Desire to share this development of alternative leadership with a community committed to the same call

Leah Rampy is Shalem’s Interim Executive Director, appointed in June 2009. Leah has been an active participant in Shalem programs for the past ten years, is a graduate of both the Personal Spiritual Deepening and Deepening Contemplative Leadership Programs, and has served as adjunct faculty for several programs.
Patience Robbins is a Roman Catholic laywoman who joined Shalem's adjunct staff in 1997. She serves on the staff of Shalem's Clergy Spiritual Life and Leadership Program and Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups & Retreats Program and has been participating and working with group spiritual direction since 1997.
