The Shalem Institute provides in-depth support for contemplative living and leadership—a way of being in the world that is prayerfully attentive and responsive to God's presence and guidance.
For over 30 years, we have offered a wide variety of programs and resources for spiritual directors, clergy, lay leaders and individuals who want to open themselves more fully to God in their daily lives and work.
At Shalem, we honor each individual spiritual path and welcome anyone who would seek to learn from the contemplative way.

2010-11 Program Year Launched!Shalem's 2010-11 Program Year is online and accepting registrations! We are excited with this year's offerings, including a Discernment Prayer Group with Patience Robbins, a new lecture series featuring Sharon Daloz Parks & Cynthia Bourgeault, the Gerald May Seminar with Richard Rohr, the return of the School of Prayer at the National Cathedral, a free Earth Mystics series, Group Spiritual Direction Workshop & Retreat, Deepening Contemplative Leadership, Quiet Days & Introductory Days! And be sure to visit our new Shalem Programs section to learn more about these programs as well as our ongoing in-depth support programs such as the Spiritual Guidance Program, Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups & Retreats Program, Clergy Spiritual Life & Leadership: Going Deeper and the Personal Spiritual Deepening Program.
