Encouraging the Nurture of a Listening Heart is a contemplative retreat which invites participants to step outside the busyness of their normal lives and to listen for the still, small voice of God. There will be space during the retreat for silence (including some of the meals). After graduating from Shalem's Spiritual Guidance Program in 2006, I joined the program staff and continue to serve in this capacity. I am also a spiritual guide and retreat facilitator. My passions are cross-cultural studies and inter-spirituality.
I have been offering spiritual guidance at Virginia Theological Seminary and since 1994 and have been serving as the Director of the Shalem Spiritual Guidance Program since 2009. I love this ministry of prayerful listening.
I completed the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation Spiritual guidance Program in 1990 and have been providing Spiritual Direction since that time.

A member of Shalem's adjunct faculty since 2006, Nan Weir is a retreat leader, spiritual director, group facilitator, and an architect dedicated to creating sacred space and building community. She facilitates strategic planning, personal development, and spiritual retreats (group spiritual direction, contemplative prayer, spiritual deepening…) for churches and community groups.
